Active Myofascial Release
Our Active Myofascial Release Therapy has been utilized by athletes, workers and others for years. Each treatment includes a chiropractic assessment of your area of complaint, followed by chiropractic manipulation and a series of maneuvers and pressure on the effected areas.
Assessment
At Advanced Chiropractic Specialists we use our hands to evaluate (feel) the texture, tightness and movement of muscles, fascia, tendons, ligaments and bones.
If adhesions or scar tissue is present, they are able to feel it because it may be preventing soft tissues from moving properly. This can cause reduced range of motion, loss of strength and even pain. If nerve tissue is trapped, there may be tingling, numbness and weakness as well.
Treatment
When problems are detected, our professional chiropractors will determine what maneuver will be used to free up the adhesions and/or scar tissue. They will apply a specific amount of pressure while they have you move or bend in certain ways.
These manual maneuvers are normally applied at the site of your injury. Excellent results have been reported with the neuromuscular system:
- Muscles
- Tendons
- Ligaments
- Fascia
This work will often resolve a number of common health complaints:
- Headaches
- Neck pain
- Back pain
- Leg pain
- Arm pain
- Carpal tunnel syndrome
- Shin splints
- Shoulder pain
- Sciatica
- Plantar fasciitis
- Knee problems
- Tennis elbow
Most of these conditions share one of three common causes: misused muscles, unaccustomed use of muscles and overuse of muscles/joints . At Advanced Chiropractic Specialists we use myofascial release technique along with a chiropractic adjustment. This type of treatment helps many muscle-related conditions resolved quickly and in turn gets you back to your lifestyle with little downtime.
